The announcement by An Taoiseach last week, bringing forward the re-opening of leisure centres, gyms and pool, was greatly welcomed by all the staff and management of Coral Tuam. We have been working hard behind the scenes to achieve all the necessary standards as set out by the government, industry experts and public health officials. As always, the health and safety of our staff, members and users is our highest priority. We always aim to operate to the highest possible standards of safety, hygiene, and customer care, with this in mind we are pleased to announce that we will be opening our Pool & Gym on Wednesday July 1st. There will be some access and service restrictions in place so please read the gym and pool procedures below for more information. We can't wait to see you all again. Gym re opening procedures. *Gym re opens on July 1st *On re opening all Covid-19 Government guidelines will be adhered to. *Pre-booking essential - booking opens on June 30th. *All bookings to be made online or phone steps available to view on website. *40 minute sessions beginning every hour. *Please queue outside until permitted to enter,. *€5 per session. *Memberships will remain frozen until September as access and services are reduced *Existing members do have the option to unfreeze their membership if they choose. *To ensure the health & safety of our staff & customers which is our priority, our opening times have been revised. *Re opening hours are Monday-Friday 9am -1pm & 2pm-6pm, Saturday & Sunday 10am-1pm & 2-5pm. * The centre will close from 1pm-2pm each day for deep cleaning. *Entry and exit system will be clearly marked. *No changing room facilities available for gym users. *Toilets can be used, strictly one person at a time. *Customers must clean down each machine after use . * No Water fountains available . *Social distancing must be maintained while using the centre. Coral Leisure announce Darragh Greene as their new Brand Ambassador June 2nd, 2020 Irish international swimmer Darragh Greene is today announced as Brand Ambassador for Coral Leisure Ireland. Having started his swimming career in his local Coral Leisure swimming pool in Longford, Darragh continues to use his local centre as he prepares to compete at Tokyo. Coral Leisure are extremely proud to be supporting Darragh on his journey to the Olympics in 2021 as part of Team Ireland, even recently supplying Darragh with necessary gym equipment to keep his training on track during the Covid 19 restrictions. We are looking forward to supporting Darragh on his journey to Tokyo in 2021.” ![]() Following the publication of the Governments roadmap for reopening society and business, we at Coral Leisure are currently working to develop a strategy to re-open our facilities. In conjunction with our Local Authorities we are in the process of finalising the re-opening plans for each of our 9 centres. The safety of our staff and customers has always been our number one priority. We have been in contact with industry leading experts from across the globe and are ensuring evidence-based procedures will be in place once our pools, gyms and fitness facilities re-open. Due to the variety and diversity of Coral Leisure facilities across the country, each centre shall have a bespoke programme for re-opening. The site-specific details of these plans shall be communicated to you from your local Coral Leisure centre closer to the date of each phase in the government roadmap. Across all Coral centres however there will be social distancing measures, hand sanitising stations, rigorous cleaning regimes and comprehensive training for all staff in place when we begin operations again. In line with the government’s phased roadmap, Coral Leisure hopes to implement a phased reopening of it centres and a phased re-introduction of services. Phase 2 -June 8th – Small outdoor fitness classes will resume, in some centres with appropriate facilities, with social distancing measure in place. Some centres will also be offering online classes, possibly even before this date. Phase 4 – July 20th – Swimming Pools will reopen with social distancing measures in place and extensive effective cleaning procedures in place. Limits on numbers will apply. Phase 5 – August 10th – Gyms, Exercise Studios and sports halls will reopen. Again, limits on numbers will apply, social distancing measure will be in place and extra cleaning procedures will be in place, Please follow our social media channels to be kept informed of the specific plans for your local Coral Leisure centre. Coral Leisure Tuam will be running their second ever White Collar Boxing Event in memory of one of it's most popular members ever Anna Considine, who passed away last year. Last years event was the talk of the town and surrounding towns and villages for months,such was the success of the show and this year an even bigger and better show is promised with Galway Bay FM'S Ollie Turner doing the honours of M.C for the night. The 3 chosen charities for which all profits will be split evenly on the night are Tuam Cancer Care, Care For Shane and Galway Hospice. Tickets are €15 and the event takes place in the Ard Ri House Hotel on Friday November 22nd with doors open at 7pm and first fight at 8pm. A very limited number of tickets are still available from reception.
Hell and Back 2019 took place on Saturday October 5th in very testing conditions in Kilruddery,Co.Wicklow.
These brave soliders from Coral Leisure Tuam and Tuam Juveniles Athletics Club joined forces to compete in both the 8km and 16km courses and it proved a really tough but enjoyable challenge for all involved and raised monies for charity in the process. These guys and girls have been training from as far back as May to be ready for the physical demands that Hell and Back place on you and passed every test with flying colours and have already marked in the date for 2020 so well done to all involved and to the organisers who exceeded themselves with the ability to merge tough challenges with such enjoyment.
